UN Involvement
The Russian federation still considers Chechnya to be a Russian Territory. Therefore any direct UN action, excepting humanitarian aid, is a violation of the 2nd UN international law, declaring that State Soverignty can never be disrupted. The UN has tried to bring peace to the region by encouraging talks, aiding the Chechens with humanitarian aid and condemning Russia for its brutality. However, these are only light actions when compared to the efforts required to bring peace to this region. With ongoing terrorism and Russia's takeover of Ukraine, even more attention has been brought to this area and Putin, watching his every step. Conflict is expected to draw on until Russia hands over control of the territory to the Chechens.
